Diagrams – Real Time Diagramming

Theme 2 readings discuss decentralized collaboration as a more successful system than the traditional top down system. Given the responsibility, liability, and amount of information related to the design and construction process, decentralizing seems difficult, if not impossible.

The now apparently defunct digg.labs used to have real time visualization of the crowdsourced news site. (For those of you who are not familiar, Digg is a crowdsourced news aggregate website.) Perhaps real time visualization of the BIM model could provide a way to decentralize the design and construction process. If each person working on the project, regardless of profession, could actively monitor the model, conflicts could be resolved and avoided without the need for a central authority.

Since currently we can’t watch the real time visualization of digg, here is a video of it in action:
